What Is BOTOX®?
BOTOX®, also known as botulinum toxin, is a bacteria used to freeze certain facial muscles that have been overworked. The more these muscles are used, the more they strain, causing them to bunch-up and result in the formation of facial wrinkles. This is the same needle that diabetics regularly use for insulin injections.
After discussing the results you’d like to achieve, Dr. Artino will mark areas of your face that are highly impacted by lines and wrinkles to map out where the injections will be administered. The length of your visit will depend on how many you would like, and each injection takes about five minutes, so appointments typically last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes.

Do BOTOX Injections Hurt?
Nope! Many patients report a small stinging sensation when they receive a BOTOX injection, but it’s nothing that lingers. We use some of the smallest syringes available to make the process virtually pain-free. Many of our patients don’t even notice when the injection happens, but if you have a fear of needles or are anxious, just let us know, and we’ll do everything we can to help make you more comfortable.
How Quickly Does BOTOX Work?
BOTOX results typically are visible within a day or two, but optimal results appear between one and two weeks after your treatment. Each injection only takes a minute or two to administer, so the entire process is fast, simple, easy, and non-invasive.
How Many BOTOX Injections Should I Get?
The number of BOTOX injections you will need depends on what area of your face you’d like to focus on enhancing and the results you’d like to achieve. During your initial consultation, we’ll ask you questions to learn more about your BOTOX goals. Based on that, we’ll recommend several injections. To give you an idea, for certain problem areas, like minimizing crow’s feet, it can take anywhere between 10 and 20 units.
